Tomorrow's the big day!
Tomorrow, Baby C and I will participate in the Greater Orlando Heart Walk for the American Heart Association. (If you feel the need to make a near-end-of-year donation for tax purposes or have an excess of cash that you can't bear to look at anymore, please sponsor us. If not, just wish us luck!)
I'm excited about this for a few reasons.
First, this will be my first foray into exercising with the baby. It will also be the most exercise I've had since his birth.
Second, I have been meaning, for some time, to do something philanthropic. Sadly, because I want such philanthropic activities to include the baby, it limits what I can do (i.e., no volunteering at church to teach any Faith Formations classes). So this will give me an opportunity to do something for a good cause and have Baby C there with me, too.
Last, I'm the captain of our team for this event, and it's been surprisingly a little difficult getting some people in the company to be suportive of our initiative. In their defense, the Race for the Cure just happened about a month ago, and there was a big drive at work for it. But I was still taken aback by the general lack of response throughout the company except from my department. After all, we've got quite a few heart attack survivors in our midst throughout the building.
But I digress.
At last count, my team has raised more than twice the amount raised by the Race for the Cure team, and we have more participants, too. We're still shy of our goal (by a lot), but I'm still pleased with what we've accomplished. And after tomorrow morning, it will be all finished.
Until next year, anyway.
