The Very Long Weekend (or, Adventures in Teething)

Comments

Teething sucks. How old is your baby? Ours started to get teeth around 10 months or so. It was a really, really tough time. He didn't sleep well and didn't handle the pain well at all. The baby orajel did help though. I had to remind myself to use it and use it often, but it did bring relief for him--especially during the night. Good luck. It'll pass and then it'll be something entirely different!
He's 5 months old now. His doctor said his teeth aren't likely to come in for another four to six weeks (yikes!). It's going to be rough, I'm sure. I'm not looking forward to it.
Well, the good news is that babies actually seem to get used to the teething process as they get more teeth. Not that they aren't cranky, sleepless, etc. But, they've been thru it before so they seem to handle it better. It's the first few teeth that are the worst. I tried Orajel on my daughter, and for some reason it didn't help. I also tried the holistic stuff (can't recall the name because I'm having momentary mommy amnesia) as well, and still no dice. So, I just threw her teething toys in the fridge, dosed her with Tylenol, and hoped for the best. I remember it was bad, but now (with all of her teeth except for her 2 year molars) we seem to be happy, hunky dory (that is except for her usual refusal to brush said teeth). So, hang in there Eileen. It will eventually pass - I promise!
Poor little guy. Hopefully the tooth comes in sooner than that. I know one baby that had two teeth by 5 1/2 months old.
